Teddy was featured on this web site during the latter part of 2001 and as a result of that we are pleased to announce that he has found a new home in Truro, Cornwall.

Teddy's original entry is shown below, but please read on for further details of this wonderful success story:-

Teddy is a 9 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross Jack Russel, neutered dog with a tremendous character.

He has suffered 8 1/2 years of mental and physical abuse.

He has been hung, thrown against walls and bounced down the garden path.

When he came here, we couldn't touch him or do anything at all to him because he expected to be hurt.

Six months down the line he now trusts Jenny explicitly, but there are still things he will not tolerate - he is frightened of hands!

We are looking for a 1 in a million foster home where any veterinary expenses would be covered by us, preferably a home where he can do his own thing and be allowed to "Chill Out". He needs a home where he can wander around and avoid contact if he requires.

He will not rush up to people and bite preferring to stay out of the way, but he may nip if he felt "cornered" by someone. He is a busy, active and now happy little dog who would love a large secure garden. He would get on with bitches but not other dogs. Children are a definite "No, No."

Teddy still has a lot of love to to give to the right, kind and thoughtful owner in whom he can place his somewhat battered trust.

Extract from The North Shropshire Chronicle - 31st January 2002

"AN ABUSED dog who has been living in an animal
rescue centre for the past year has found a new home
- but will have to make quite a trip to get there.
That's because Teddy, who was featured on the front page
of the North Shropshire Chronicle last February, will have
to make a 300 mile journey to truro, Cornwall to meet his
new owner.
Teddy, 11, was badly abused by his owners and has been
at Grinshill Animal Rescue Centre since he was rescued
12 months ago.
Because of his treatment, the terrier developed behav-
ioural problems and has found it difficult to find another
home in the local area.
But thanks to the computer literate volunteers at the rescue
centre, Teddy's plight was highlighted on a website, and a
new home was found.
Charlotte Campbell, of Truro, Cornwall, lost her own dog
a number of years ago and wanted to adopt a pet that no-one
else wanted.
She spotted Teddy on the internet and immediately got in
touch with Grinshill manager Jenifer Martinez, who
checked out her references and agreed that the dog would
be expertly cared for in Cornwall.
"We're taking him down there on February 22. It's a long
way to go, but it will be worth it." said Jenifer.
"Now he will have plenty of space and walks along the
beach for the rest of his life."

Here is an extract of a letter from "Teddy"

"To my Dearest foster Mum Jenny,

without whose love and time and dedication I would never have learnt to love and trust again.

Thankyou so much for giving me a wonderful second chance and for recognising that underneath that anger was only deep fear and that inside all that was a huge personality and heart longing to be loved and love in return. I do miss you but know you did what was best for me in the long run.

I thought I'd send you a photograph from the new album that my mum and dad are starting for me.

As you can see I'm still up to my antics and naughty and inquisitive as ever!

Please could you show it to my kind walkers, Neal and Mike who brought me to my new home,

    lots of sloppy kisses,

        Teddy"
