ERNIE

Ernie

Foster home needed for a small collie cross male. Ernie was found cowering in a hedge alongside a very busy road, but after careful guiding he was cornered in a safe place and caught. Ernie is terrified of nearly everything except other dogs-he obviously has had no human contact .We have come to a standstill with him and he now needs a more 'one to one' approach in a home rather than in a kennel atmosphere. In the kennel he does tend to run away from us until we get him on a lead, although he has never snapped at any of us. We need a home with preferably no other dogs as he tends to hide behind the other dogs, and one where he can be coaxed out of his shell, so he needs someone who can afford to spend the time with him. A very secure garden is a must, and ideally a front door that does not open out onto a road. If Ernie should get out at the present we would not be able to catch him. We would pay all expenses for as long as it takes for Ernie to feel confident around people and make him ready to be rehomed. Ernie is approx 3 years old fully vaccinated , microchipped but as yet not neutered - we thought that could wait until he is a bit more confident.

Wallace

Approx 2yr old liver spotted Dalmation.. Wallace was found as a stray severely underweight, with many open sores on his head and legs. He is now fit and healthy and up to his correct weight. His temperament is good when he knows you but can be a bit forbidding with strangers; with proper training this would certainly get better. He is not good with cats and would certainly do them harm, and he would be confrontational with other male dogs but okay with bitches .He will shortly be neuterd, he is fully vaccinated and microchipped. Very affectionate with all staff here and has never given any concerns when we deal with him. He can be very strong on the lead but soon calms down and walks well when out. His ideal home would be someone used to the breed and who could keep up with his energy levels - possibly a home where there is an older bitch to give him guidance but no children under teenage.

Jenson

A Labrador cross approx 2yrs old, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Jenson is a very sweet but excitable dog and although he is very obedient and has passed his bronze good citizens award at dog training (and also being great out on a lead) he still is over excitable in the kennel and can get carried away, and will mouth. His reaction to strangers can be a bit daunting but gets better with time. This dog is desperate for someone to take the time with him and to carry on with his training - he is 80% there and with a little bit more effort he will be a very clever and obedient dog. He is okay with bitches but not other males or cats.

Dave

Dave

A bull mastiff approx 18mths-2yrs old, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Dave was found tied up on a 'gypsy' camp having been left by the travellers when they moved on. He weighed just under 4 stone and looked more like a whippet, he now weighs about 7 stone. He was covered in wire marks all around his legs where he had been tied up. Terrified of his own shadow, it has taken him a long time to settle. We all love him here but we really need to find him that one special home. He is not good with other animals and does not like small children. His biggest draw back is his strength which makes him very strong on the lead He is now walked with a muzzle so there are no accidents. When there are no dogs or cats around he walks like a dream, and he only lunges when in close proximity to other dogs, hence the muzzle. He is affectionate and well behaved in the kennel, quiet and clean, and this big beautiful dog deserves a second chance in life. He needs someone used to the giant strong breeds, with no other pets and no children (single man would be perfect), and must have large secure garden. We are quite willing to sponsor a training course for Dave if he would benefit from one. His future is our only priority and we will make sure that when he is rehomed it will be the right one.

The home for the right dog

As we want our dogs to go to the right home where they will stay for life we are very fussy and will do home checks before and after. We do our best to match dogs and owners and sometimes we have to choose between several people for one dog. Who we choose is the person in our opinion most suited to the needs of that particular dog, definitely not a first comer basis. Sometimes we do have to disappoint people by saying no, but we always have our dogs best interest at heart, we will however try and find them the right dog.
